Living in a remote village in Nepal, Soudagar liked to run and play with his friends. Then one day, his mother noticed a strange, discolored patch of skin on his leg. Soudagar was soon diagnosed with leprosy and began treatment at Lalgadh hospital. He received multi-drug therapy (MDT) but then began having a bad reaction to it.

Throughout his therapy, Soudagar has had a ready smile for the doctors and nurses and played with the other kids in the hospital when he was able. He even rolled bandages for the other patients.
